A Village in a Triangle
In the early 1900s the village fit in a small triangle between Onville Road, Barrett Heights Road and Garrisonville Road. It had a post office, stores, a blacksmith shop and a school.

Then the area grew. Business picked up after Marine Corps Base Quantico expanded in 1942, and Interstate 95 in the 1960s let Northern Virginia workers settle in Stafford.
Garrisonville Today
Today the name covers several miles of development along the eastern end of Garrisonville Road.
North Stafford High School opened in 1981, the same year as Garrisonville Elementary at 100 Wood Drive. Stafford Marketplace on Garrisonville Road followed in 2002.
